Hermanus day tour - whales, wine and more .....

A day tour to Hermanus includes mountain passes, secluded seaside resorts, and the amazing Clarens Drive, one of the most stunning coastal roads in the land.

On leaving Cape Town, we travel past Somerset West and soon begin the drive up and over Sir Lowry's Pass. Here one has great views down over Gordon's Bay, Strand, and on a clear day, right across to Fish Hoek, Simonstown and Cape Point.
Along this road, one has the opportunity to stop at a roadside farm stall to browse local produce and have a quick cup of coffee.

Leaving the N2, one travels down towards the coast, crossing the Bot River and catching a glimpse of the highly rated Arabella Golf course.

From the rotary drive high above Hermanus we enjoy great views of Walker Bay.
An optional stop is the Harold Porter botanical garden with its abundant bird and plant life.

If you feel the 'need' to do a little wine tasting, we can visit one of the local estates which produce some top class wines.

In Hermanus, we visit the old Harbour Museum and then set out to catch a sighting of the Southern Right Whale. Hermanus is well known as having some of the world's best land-based whale watching. Between August and November these magnificent creatures migrate to the waters of the Cape coast to calve, and on occasions can be viewed from as close as 50 m from the shore.
